texte descriptif

short description

Our proposal for the Fête des Lumières 2008 in Lyon suggests a game at an urban scale. A single installation in a determined context or as well a series of installations distributed over the city. With a likeness to Mikado, we let a handful of glowing rods fall in a predetermined urban configuration. The individual elements adapt to the morphology of the designated space creating complex linear geometry that reveals characteristics specific of the chosen urban space.

The installation brings to the fore existing structures (a long street, stairs, a square), reconfiguring itself in a different way in each context. It’s an elegant structure, unexpected; half way between chance and order that stimulates reflection and the imagination. The glowing rods consist of white and translucent fibre reinforced polyester tubes with 20 cm diameter and between 7 and 9 metres long illuminated by white coloured L.E.D bulbs. On the exterior they are covered with a translucent film with mirror effect.
